About GIA (Gardening In Action) CIC
GIA is a Community Interest Company which seeks to grow the joy of plants and gardening in everyone: enriching lives, building communities, increasing employment opportunities, advocating good horticultural practice, and positively impacting the environment.
Gardening In Action offers practical support to community gardens and volunteer groups, offering friendly and inclusive gardening workshops in community spaces. We run the Peverells Community Orchard in Seaford and the station gardens at Falmer and Seaford stations. GIA operates an inclusive horticultural work experience programme to help people into employment.
GIA is led by Dan Ori, who has over 20 years’ experience in charity/non-profit leadership where he has managed staff and volunteers in diverse settings, as well as 30 years’ experience in the horticulture industry. Dan works as a horticultural consultant and is involved in horticultural research via the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Master of Horticulture Programme. GIA is supported by Margery Diamand, a qualified working gardener with 15 years’ experience of community work.
Gardening In Action is the lead organiser of the Growing Community Toolkit. Please feel free to get in touch to find out more, or visit our website: www.gardeningin.org
